Dark Season III: Army of Wolves now on Amazon

Dark Season III: Army of Wolves is now available on Amazon. I wrote about it in another post, so there’s not too much else to say other than that I’m not hard at work on the final chapters of the next book in the series. Here’s a quick update on the books:

Published so far:

#1 – The Last Vampire (released Nov 2011)

#2 – Sentinel (released Nov 2011)

#3 – Army of Wolves (released Dec 2011)

Coming soon:

#4 – The Civil Dead (ETA Dec 2011)

#5 – The Life, Death, Life, Life and Death of Martin Keller (ETA Dec 2011)

#6 – Gothos (ETA Jan 2011)

#7 – Testament (ETA Jan 2011)

#8 – Dead End (ETA Feb 2011)

At that point, I’m planning to take a few months’ break and then return with a second ‘series’ of Dark Season books, which will carry on from the cliffhanger ending to Dead End. I did think about conflating the whole lot into just five or six books, but I really want to tell more stories about these characters.

As for how it all ends… I have it worked out. I know who lives, who dies, who leaves, who comes back, who does what and more besides. I think the whole thing might end up being 3 series, each containing 8 books, so that would be 24 in total! Okay, that’s pretty ambitious maybe, and it’s asking a lot for anyone to read all of that, which would total something like 500,000 words over the course of a year. Oh well… it’ll be worth it, honest!

What can I say? I love serial fiction!

Get Army of Wolves (Dark Season III) on Smashwords!

Dark Season III: Army of Wolves is now available from Smashwords, you can get it here in all the usual formats. I hope you like it, it was the hardest one to write so far because I wasn’t sure about whether to reveal a big plot secret. In the end, I half revealed it. There’s definitely a hint at something that’s going to become more important in one of the other books.

Here’s the blurb:

Five hundred years ago, a werewolf named Hamish entered into a pact to save his own life. But he broke the terms of that pact, and now an army of wolves is on his trail.

As Patrick prepares to take on the wolves, Sophie finds herself drawn into Hamish’s insane plan to save his own life. But is the terrified wolf really willing to let Sophie walk into certain death?

It was really interesting for me to try writing about werewolves, because it’s not a subject I know much about. So I did some research, and then I had to decide how to present these particular characters. In the end, I left the physical description open to interpretation. Anyway, let me know what you think of the book!

The Amazon version should be available later today, it’s currently processing. Right, I’m taking the rest of the day off. My elbow’s still really painful, so I’ll relax until tomorrow, when I’ve got a full day of work and then some writing to do so that I can get Dark Season IV: The Civil Dead finished and up by this time next week! The cover’s finished, I might upload that later today!

Aaaaargh! Fractured elbow as I put finishing touches to Army of Wolves

And today was going so well…

Then I managed to get knocked over by a guy who was rollerblading along the street and shoulderbarged me, and unfortunately I fell really awkwardly and fractured my elbow. Okay, I admit it: as I fell, I landed on a bag of shopping and it was a tin can that did the damage to my poor elbow. How dramatic! The characters in my books never suffer such mundane injuries. I’d post a photo, but there’s nothing to see so far, it’s just slightly swollen and I’m nervously waiting to feel what the pain’s like in the morning.

And guess what? The rollerblader didn’t even stop! Nice!

Anyway, this did slightly delay Dark Season III: Army of Wolves, which will now definitely be out on Wednesday. It’s finished, proofread and checked. I’ve converted the file and uploaded it to Amazon, so Amazon is now doing its thing, which can take anywhere between 12 and 24 hours. So I confidently state that the book will be available this time tomorrow!

I also have to put the Smashwords version up, which isn’t complicated but to be honest I feel I need to take some paracetamol and go to bed. So I’ll sort that out tomorrow and it’ll probably be up before the Amazon version appears.

The good news is that Dark Season IV: The Civil Dead is pretty much finished and should be up in less than a week. If you want an idea for how the narrative is developing, I’d say that The Last Vampire, Sentinel and Army of Wolves form a very loose trilogy in terms of Sophie’s developing relationship with Patrick. The next couple of books are quite standalone, although you will learn something very surprising about Vincent. I’m aware Vincent has been in the background so far, but he’s defnitely there for a reason. As is someone else who has been popping up briefly in each book.

Right. Paracetamol. Bed. Hope you enjoy Army of Wolves tomorrow!

Dark Season III Army of Wolves almost ready to publish!

Dark Season III: Army of Wolves is pretty much ready to be published and should be up on Amazon on Tuesday or at the very latest Wednesday morning. It’s taken longer to get this one ready because I made quite a late change to one of the plot points. There was something I took a while to get right, but I think it’s ready now. Okay. Phew. It’s nearly here!

Dark Season: Army of Wolves finished, ready to publish at the weekend

Dark Season III: Army of Wolves is finished, it just needs proof-reading and it’ll be up at the weekend. I’m excited about getting it out, but of course I’ve already started work on the next book, Dark Season IV: The Civil Dead.
